🔸 Yemen’s government: Four people were killed in the Houthi attack on a ship in the Red Sea

The internationally recognized Yemeni government said on Tuesday, August 11, that at least four people were killed in an attack by the Iranian-backed Houthi rebels on a cargo ship near the Bab al-Mandeb Strait off the southern coast of Yemen.

In a report, the French news agency AFP wrote that the attack is the latest deadly strike on a ship in the disputed waterway of the Red Sea, following the Houthis’ announcement of a Saudi naval blockade last month.

According to AFP, Yemen’s Ministry of Transport accused the Houthis of targeting a cargo vessel named “Tihamah” with “three successive ballistic missiles” while it was passing through the Bab al-Mandeb Strait.

The ministry said: “The Houthi attack on this ship, which was carrying food supplies, caused a fire on board, killing four crew members, including three Pakistanis and one Indonesian, and injuring four others as well as a member of the rescue and firefighting team.”

Reports also said the ship was targeted as it was leaving the port of Al-Mokha.
