The World Health Organization has released guidelines to address the increase in obesity among children and has warned against the use of surgery and medication.
The organization says that care for childhood and adolescent obesity should focus on healthy eating, physical activity, and changing lifestyles, and that surgery and the use of weight-loss pills should only be used for adolescents and as a last resort.
The rate of obesity among adolescents worldwide has quadrupled since the 1990s.
