🔶 Widespread protests in various cities across Germany against extremist right-wing politics

Various cities across Germany on Saturday, September 12 (21 Shahrivar), saw large gatherings against extremist right-wing politics.

Held on the initiative of an action named “Review,” the demonstrations called on the German government to examine the ban on parties that have been classified by Germany’s Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution as extremist right-wing.

The largest gathering in this context was held in Berlin, the German capital. While police officials have announced the number of attendees as 18,000, the organizers say 30,000 people took part in the Berlin rally.

Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Munich, and Bamberg were also among the other cities where between 16,000 and 20,000 people attended each of the rallies.

In the rallies on Saturday in the cities of Leipzig, Erfurt, Hanover, Stuttgart, and Mainz as well, many participants were present. The impressive success of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party in the state of Saxony-Anhalt has heightened concerns about threats to democracy in Germany.
