Walla! Net reported that Eyal Zamir, the Chief of Staff of the Israeli army, described Hamas as “defeated” in a closed-door meeting with Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, and Yoav Gallant, the Israeli defense minister.
According to the assessment presented in the meeting, the Israeli army now has control of more than 64% of the Gaza Strip, including the crossings and main entry points.
However, Walla! Net reported that Israeli military intelligence, alongside Zamir’s assessment of the “defeat of Hamas,” warned that the group is trying to restore its rule in parts of the Gaza Strip.
According to the report, Hamas is also working to recruit new forces and rebuild its military capabilities.
