Veeward Marine Information Company said transit through the Strait of Hormuz in the 24 hours leading up to the early hours of August 5 (15 Mordad) fell to 12 vessels, while prior to disruption to shipping, about 140 vessels crossed the waterway per day. Based on the company’s data, six vessels entered the Strait of Hormuz and six vessels also left it.

Veeward also reported that during nighttime passage through the Southern Corridor, three vessels each for about 12 hours cut their Automatic Identification System (AIS) signals. It also said that after exiting the Strait, a bulk carrier went directly from Iran to a military anchorage in Oman, and its Veeward artificial intelligence system assessed it as one of the most serious cases of attempts to break the oil embargo.

Another vessel also changed course before reaching the Strait of Hormuz and returned.
