🔸US Treasury Secretary says activity of Iran’s airlines will be halted worldwide

Scott Bessent, US Treasury Secretary, has announced that the operations of all commercial airlines of Iran will be suspended worldwide from Wednesday, September 23 (October 1).

Bessent said in an interview with CNBC on Monday, September 21 (30 Shahrivar): “As of September 23, all of Iran’s airlines will be shut down across the world.”

He said this measure is part of Washington’s broad secondary sanctions to isolate the Islamic Republic’s civilian aviation network.

The US Treasury Secretary warned that airports and international facilities that provide services to Iranian aircraft may be fully denied access to the US banking system.

According to him, foreign operators cannot refuel Iranian aircraft, enable landings, or sell passenger tickets without accepting the risk of losing access to dollar settlement.

So far, officials of the Islamic Republic have not reacted to this latest announcement from Washington.
