US Republican Senator Todd Young told Marzieh Hosseini, an Iran International reporter, that he hopes the war will end soon, but that this end must be accompanied by guarantees for control of the Islamic Republic’s nuclear materials, the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, and maintaining pressure on Tehran.

He added that the Islamic Republic’s economic blockade must continue, that bombings should stop except in response to attacks by Iran, and that the United States, while preserving its negotiating leverage, should simultaneously replenish its important ammunition stockpiles and strengthen alternative routes for transferring oil and gas from the Persian Gulf.
