The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said on X on Wednesday, 7 Mordad that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has no authority to set the route for the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, and that commercial vessels continue to transit the waterway with support from the U.S. military.

In the statement, CENTCOM rejected the IRGC’s claim that international ships must pass only through routes it has designated.

The command also said it has helped the passage of around 1,000 ships and the transfer of 500 million barrels of crude oil through the Strait of Hormuz since about three months ago.
