🔻The US Federal Aviation Administration has warned airlines in that country to exercise caution when flying to Saudi Arabia or passing through its airspace.
The agency said it issued the warning due to security threats arising from the continuation of military activities and disruptions to navigation systems, describing the current situation as “potentially dangerous.”
The warning, which is valid until December 10, was issued following attacks on Saturday and Sunday on the Riyadh International Airport. In the Saturday attack, 13 people were killed and more than 300 others were injured.
The US aviation authority said these threats may put aircraft at risk at all altitudes, including when crossing airspace, approaching for landing, and taking off. The warning also includes aircraft registered in the United States.
The Riyadh airport will remain closed to flights until at least Monday afternoon Eastern time.
Delta has not yet responded to Reuters’ request for comment on the warning.
