The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights said that, from 29 Esfand 1404 to date, at least 56 people in Iran have been executed on security-related charges.

Volker Türk, in a statement, noted that 27 of these are protesters who were arrested at protest gatherings.

He said that during this period the process of issuing and carrying out death sentences in Iran has increased.

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights urged the officials of the Islamic Republic to stop all executions and to take steps toward abolishing the death penalty.
