Ukrainian Air Force fighter tracks down a Russian drone at extremely close range;

The released video shows an MiG-29 fighter of the Ukrainian Air Force targeting a Russian “Geran-4” drone with its internal cannon from an extremely close distance, and passing through the smoke and fire caused by the explosion.

The Ukrainian Air Force has acknowledged that a severe shortage of air-to-air missiles has forced the pilots of this country to use the aircraft’s gun against Russian drones more than before in order to manage missile consumption.

This method carries high risks; because using the gun requires getting close enough to the target, and the explosion and shrapnel caused by it can directly enter the fighter’s flight path and damage its airframe or engines.
