Ukraine’s president says Russia used North Korean missiles in its latest attacks

🔸 Ukraine’s president says that in the recent broad overnight strikes on this country, Russia used North Korean ballistic missiles. The Ukrainian army also reported an attack on the “Orsk” oil refinery in Russia’s Orenburg region.

🔸 Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Tuesday, 20 Mordad, that Zaporizhzhia in the southeast of Ukraine was targeted with “North Korean ballistic missiles, Zircon missiles, and air-guided munitions.”

🔸 Over the past years, North Korea has provided ballistic missiles, artillery ammunition, and other military equipment to Russia.

🔸 Zelenskyy had recently reported on the decision by the leaders of North Korea and Russia to send and deploy between 30,000 and 50,000 army forces to help Moscow in the war with Ukraine. The Ukrainian president also said that North Korean-made missiles had been found on Ukrainian soil.

🔸 Russia’s overnight attacks on Zaporizhzhia and Kyiv took place at the same time as a new wave of Ukrainian attacks deep inside Russian territory, and especially on the country’s oil facilities.

🔸 On Tuesday, the Ukrainian army said its forces once again targeted the “Orsk” oil refinery in Russia’s Orenburg region.

🔸 The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces said that after the attack, a fire broke out at the refinery and the extent of the damage is being assessed. The refinery processes about six million tons of crude oil per year and produces gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, fuel oil, and other petroleum products.

🔸 Reports from local sources in Russia and images shared on social media also indicate an explosion and fire at the Orsk refinery.

🔸 The mayor of Orsk confirmed an attack using drones on the area, and Russian officials also imposed restrictions on flights at the city’s airport. The Orsk refinery is located about 1,500 kilometers from Ukraine.
