🔻Ukraine’s president, in response to the critical remarks by Donald Trump, the U.S. president, said that if Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, agrees to a 60-day ceasefire, elections will be held in Ukraine.

In an interview with ABC, Zelensky said: “Please tell Putin to give us two months, 60 days of a complete ceasefire, 60 days, and we will hold the elections.”

Trump said yesterday, after Volodymyr Zelensky criticized the U.S. and Russia agreement on diesel fuel, that, in his view, “the time has come for Ukraine to elect a new president to end the war with Russia.”

He accused Zelensky of intentionally prolonging the war and of disregarding the United States’ requests to halt attacks on Russian oil refineries.

While criticizing the U.S. decision to suspend sanctions on exports of Russian diesel fuel, Zelensky called the move “a weak action and a gift to Vladimir Putin.”
