Ukraine’s ground drone army, explained

The Kyiv Independent’s Francis Farrell joins the Alter Ego Battalion of Ukraine’s 93rd Mechanized Brigade to see how soldiers develop and deploy unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) in the war against Russia.

Built and modified in front-line workshops, the robots transport supplies, evacuate wounded soldiers, conduct reconnaissance, and carry out combat missions.

The report follows Alter Ego’s engineers and operators as they confront the risks of robotic evacuations and prepare an all-robot counterattack against Russian troops in Donetsk Oblast.
