The UK Maritime Trade Operations Center reported that an oil tanker was hit in the Strait of Hormuz by an unidentified projectile.
In its statement, the center announced the time it received the report in the early hours of Friday, the 27th of Shahrivar, and noted that the incident led to a fire inside the tanker.
The UK Maritime Trade Operations Center said that the fire on the aforementioned tanker had been contained.
The international body also reported on the condition of the tanker’s crew, but noted that the extent of environmental damage from the incident had not yet been determined.
In this report, the origin of the projectile has not been identified.
So far, CENTCOM and/or the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran have not commented on the matter, but the IRGC had reported on Thursday evening that it had targeted an oil tanker flying the flag of Togo.
