U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, in a post on X, wrote: “As part of the economic expulsion operation, we had promised that we would impose severe consequences on those who continue to preserve the financing routes of the Iranian government. Today we kept that promise and sanctioned companies that still support Mahan Air.”

Bessent wrote: “This action should be a warning to every individual or company that cooperates with other Iranian airlines; all of these companies were also sanctioned today. Such individuals and companies are at risk of having their access to the global financial system cut off.”
