🔻The U.S. Department of the Treasury on Thursday sanctioned six individuals and aviation-related entities linked to the airline “Mahan Air,” which Washington accuses of facilitating the activities of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

The new sanctions include a Chinese national as well as companies in China, Russia, Iran, and Kashmir under Indian control.

Scott Bessent, the U.S. Treasury secretary, said in a statement: “Individuals who provide financial, logistical, or commercial services to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps or Mahan Air are helping to sustain a terrorist organization. The Treasury will continue identifying and exposing these individuals and cutting off their access to the U.S. financial system.”

Mahan Air says that as a non-civilian airline company, it carries out domestic and international flights, but Washington says the company provides travel services to the forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and plays a role in transporting weapons for those forces.

Tehran has repeatedly said the allegations raised against Mahan Air and Iran Air, the state airline, are baseless, but this has not prevented the U.S. and its European allies from imposing sanctions on these companies. ادامه از:
