🔻The U.S. Immigration and Customs Agency, whose officers’ (ICE) operations have repeatedly made headlines over the past year, has signed a multi-million-dollar contract to buy specialized gloves with the ability to deliver an electric shock.

These gloves are being provided by a manufacturer based in the state of Kentucky for the immigration agency.

The product in question is ordinary search gloves, but once the officer activates its electrical capability, it can deliver a shock of up to 380 volts to the skin of the person it touches.

The U.S. immigration agency says these gloves will “reduce” reliance on physical force and weapons.

However, civil rights groups, expressing concern, are asking the immigration agency whether it has taken “protective measures” sufficient to prevent abuse of these gloves.

The performance of the U.S. immigration agency has faced increasing criticism after several people were killed in its operations.
