🔶 U.S. House of Representatives approves sanctions bill on Russia and Iran

The U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday, September 16 (25 Shahrivar), approved a sweeping bill to intensify sanctions on Russia and also extend for five years the law on sanctions targeting the Islamic Republic. It was sent to the White House for Donald Trump, the U.S. president, to sign.

By 262 votes in favor against 159 opposed, lawmakers of this body approved the Senate amendments to the bill. With the Senate text accepted without changes, the process of reviewing this measure in Congress has now ended, and for it to become law, it only requires the signature of the president.

The U.S. Senate had approved the bill in mid-August of this year with 86 votes in favor against 11 opposed.
