🔻U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) says that on October 10 American forces disabled a commercial cargo ship in the Sea of Oman after its crew did not heed repeated warnings and attempted to violate Iran’s maritime blockade.

According to CENTCOM, a U.S. fighter jet used precision-guided munitions to strike the rear section of the “Ocean Malika” cargo ship, which flies the flag of Panama; the ship is also known as “Arica Sun.” CENTCOM says it targeted the vessel and completely disabled its propulsion system. CENTCOM says no crew members were harmed.

CENTCOM said the ship was transiting regional waters after departing an Iranian port.

The U.S. Central Command says that Washington restarted the blockade of ships that enter or leave Iranian ports as of July 14, and that over the past three months it has disabled four commercial vessels and forced 135 ships to change course.

CENTCOM also claimed that during this same period it destroyed 10 tankers associated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ “shadow network.”
