🔶 U.S. ambassador to Lebanon calls for more patience from Israeli and Lebanese negotiating teams

One day before the seventh round of direct negotiations between Israel and Lebanon in Rome, the U.S. ambassador to Lebanon called for more patience from the negotiating parties in implementing the trilateral agreement signed in June.

Michel Eïsse, the U.S. ambassador to Lebanon, said in a statement: “There are still many technical tasks left to ensure the security of civilians on the ground. There is a fundamental difference between drafting an agreement on paper and implementing it responsibly; impatience could put the lives of those civilians at risk that this process is, in essence, designed to protect.”

He added: “We believe it is better to allow enough time for this process to be carried out properly from the start. This will help the next pilot areas move forward more effectively. Most importantly, both sides must agree on a clear and implementable process before proceeding.”
