Two weeks after the initial agreement between Lebanon and Israel, mediated by the United States, the process of the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon in exchange for the disarmament of Hezbollah has begun slowly.
The first stage of implementing the plan was carried out in the village of Zoutar al-Gharbi after weeks of negotiations and several days of military operations, but Hezbollah continues to refuse to hand over its weapons. Military and security officials predict that completing the withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon will take more than a year.
