On behalf of the United States of America, I extend my congratulations to His Majesty and to the great people of Morocco on the occasion of Throne Day.
This year, we are celebrating the 200th anniversary of American history and enduring friendship with Morocco—a relationship built on trust and mutual respect.
The United States has stated clearly: We recognize Morocco’s sovereignty over Western Sahara and support Morocco’s serious, credible, and realistic proposal for autonomy as the only basis for a fair and lasting solution. Any other approach would prolong the status quo and is not acceptable. This urgently needed solution will not only bring peace to the region, but will also deliver greater prosperity and integration for all of Africa. This dispute must end now, and the United States will continue its efforts to advance this goal.
His Majesty’s wise leadership has been a cornerstone of stability. Morocco’s continued focus on advancing peace, combating extremism, and protecting the security of the United States and Morocco—including through its vital role in the Abraham Accords—demonstrates a valuable partnership for the United States. In this regard, we will also work together to help secure the region of SaHEL.
Your vision for growth opens the doors to success for the people and the economy of both our countries. I have instructed my teams to support economic and social development with Morocco, including in the Western Sahara region. Trusted American technology and innovation in strategic sectors such as energy, artificial intelligence, critical minerals, and defense will continue to serve as your partners for the next 250 years.
Together, we are building a new era—one in which the interests of both our nations are prioritized. I look forward to further successes for our two countries as we continue our cooperation.
