🔸 The upward trend in the prices of foreign currencies in Iran’s free market continued on Wednesday, 7 Mehr, and the price of one U.S. dollar, after setting a new record, rose to more than 256,000 tomans.

🔸 Reports from websites that announce real-time exchange rates of currency and gold showed that the price of the euro, the unit of currency of the European Union, also exceeded 290,000 tomans, and the price of one UAE dirham was reported at more than 70,000 tomans during the middle hours of Wednesday.

🔸 The price of the so-called Imam Khomeini gold coin was also announced at a fresh record of 261 million tomans.

🔸 The rise in the prices of foreign currencies has continued even as, on Wednesday morning, the Central Bank of the Islamic Republic, in a statement, informed the market of “planning to supply $2 billion in banknotes.”

🔸 The statement said that the process of selling this amount of currency had begun and that, in the first phase, one billion dollars would be supplied through selected bank branches and banking exchange houses across the country.

🔸 The decline in the value of Iran’s national currency in recent weeks has intensified with the start of the U.S. economic pressure plan known as “Economic Exclusion Operation” and the continued maritime blockade.
