Tom Barrack, the U.S. ambassador in Turkey, strongly condemned the attack on Masrour Barzani, the prime minister of the Kurdistan Region, and his office in Erbil, calling it “a direct threat to regional stability.”
Barrack wrote on the X social media platform that an attack on the trusted Kurdish allies of the United States is “unacceptable,” and that Washington will not accept such hostile actions and will not tolerate them.
He also announced full U.S. support for the leadership of Al-Iidi Al-Ali (Al-Zaydi), the prime minister of Iraq, to restore the complete sovereignty of the country, and said that all weapons and security forces must remain under the control of the Iraqi government.
At the same time, the U.S. embassy in Baghdad also strongly condemned the attack on Masrour Barzani and the headquarters of his office in a statement. The embassy, emphasizing its support for the Iraqi government, said that all weapons and security forces of the country must remain under the control of the central government.
