The World Health Organization warned that the number of suspected cholera cases in Yemen has tripled in the past three weeks. Based on a report released on Tuesday by the organization, suspected cases increased from 217 in the week of 15 to 21 Shahrivar to 647 in the week of 5 to 11 Mehr.
The World Health Organization attributed this increase to the intensification of the war, which has displaced more than 200,000 people from their homes.
Civilians are fleeing the fresh fighting and taking shelter in camps that lack sanitation.
According to the same report, since the beginning of the year Yemen has recorded 8,034 suspected cases and 27 deaths caused by cholera, and one quarter of the suspected cases have occurred in the past four weeks.
The civil war in Yemen intensified in Tir of this year, and since last week, both the Houthis’ attacks on Saudi Arabia and the coalition attacks led by Saudi Arabia on Yemen have increased.
