The Washington Post and NBC reported that Donald Trump questioned Pete Hegseth at Camp David about a shortage of ammunition; a challenge that has limited U.S. military options in the war in Iran and also affected Ukraine’s defensive capabilities.

The Washington Post, citing two people familiar with the matter, wrote that on Mordad 9, at the edge of a cabinet meeting at Camp David, U.S. President Donald Trump asked Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth why he had received misleading information about the status of munitions stockpiles.

According to these sources, Trump expressed dissatisfaction to Hegseth and said he thought the ammunition shortage problem had been “resolved.” The White House and the Pentagon denied that the conversation took place and that there was a dispute between Trump and Hegseth.

On Thursday morning, Mordad 15, in response to reports about a decline in U.S. ammunition stockpiles, Trump posted a message on the social network Truth Social saying the country has enormous quantities of ammunition, especially of certain specific types, and that a large amount is also in production and being shipped.
