The United States did not extend its five-year national emergency regarding the conflict and a humanitarian crisis in Ethiopia, and lifted sanctions on the army, the ruling party, and other Eritrean individuals and entities.

According to a statement by the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the U.S. Treasury Department, the emergency that had been declared by Joe Biden in Shahrivar 1400 expired on 27 Shahrivar.

This emergency was announced when fighting between Ethiopia’s federal government and the Tigray regional forces in the north of the country had intensified.

Accordingly, all individuals and entities sanctioned under this executive order were removed from the list of Specially Designated Nationals, including Eritrean defense forces, the People’s Front for Democracy and Justice, the Eritrean ruling party, and two Eritrean officials.
