🔻The United Nations says that in the past two months, due to the war, nearly 86,000 people have been displaced in Yemen

The United Nations said that with the escalation of fighting between government forces and Iran-allied Houthi forces, nearly 86,000 people have been displaced in Yemen, and the number of displaced people increased by 10,000 in a single day.

The International Organization for Migration said in a statement that the number of displaced people in Yemen has now reached 85,818, while the same organization, one day earlier, had estimated the number of displaced people since the Houthi announcement for the blockade of Saudi Arabia’s sea routes in July (29 Tir) at 76,000.

The UN-affiliated agency emphasized that more than 82,000 of these displaced people have been forced to leave their homes in the past roughly two weeks, that is, when the Houthis—who have held control over large parts of northern Yemen for years—launched a widespread offensive against the Saudi-backed forces of the Yemeni government.

According to the International Organization for Migration, these movements and displacements have occurred mostly in the western coastal areas and in the Taiz province.

The organization added that Taiz has suffered the most damage, and only in areas of this province, around 9,280 households—about 56,000 people—have been displaced.
