The U.S. Navy has begun testing a new uncrewed submarine called "HadALUS" within the framework of its "hybrid fleet" development program; a system designed for long-term undersea missions at a cost lower than comparable models.

Companies "Raytheon" and "Composite Energy Technologies" announced that in the initial marine trials, HadALUS successfully demonstrated the ability to launch while submerged and carry out undersea missions. This submarine has a range of more than two thousand nautical miles and is equipped with advanced sonar systems and electronic equipment.

The U.S. Navy intends to use a greater number of its autonomous surface, undersea, and aerial systems alongside manned ships. According to the makers, HadALUS can operate independently in the sea for weeks or even months and reduce the need for expensive support vessels.
