⚡The share of positive COVID-19 tests in Iran has reached 17.4% and has crossed the high alert threshold.

Based on the latest report from the Center for Disease Control of the Ministry of Health, this figure relates to the week ending on October 4 (Mehr 3) and has increased compared to the week prior. In the same week of the previous year, this proportion was 8.9%, meaning it has nearly doubled.

The upward trend has accelerated over the past two weeks. In the week ending on September 20, the indicator was 11.7%, meaning it rose by nearly six percentage points over two weeks.

This is being reported while, with the start of autumn, concerns about the simultaneous spread of influenza and COVID-19 have increased.

Alongside this concern, imported influenza vaccines from the Food and Drug Organization have not yet reached pharmacies.

The spokesperson of the Iranian Pharmacists’ Association said last week that a smuggled sample of this vaccine is being sold for 10 to 12 million tomans.
