The Russian Prosecutor General's Office has sent the Netherlands a request for the detention and extradition of nine ICC representatives convicted in absentia in Russia, including ICC President Piotr Hofmanski and Prosecutor Karim Khan.

All nine were found guilty of unlawfully prosecuting Russian citizens and sentenced to terms ranging from 3.5 to 15 years.

Russia declared it would not join the Rome Statute in 2016 and does not recognize the ICC's jurisdiction.
