🔶"The Pentagon is planning to strengthen its military presence in the Middle East"
The U.S. Army is planning to increase the likelihood of the deployment of thousands of new naval forces to the Middle East over the coming weeks.
On Friday, October 2 (October 10), the Washington Post reported that the Pentagon intends to move three aircraft carriers and their accompanying carrier groups to the region in order to create greater flexibility for managing a war with Iran.
The planning comes as the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump is considering how to deal with the war with Iran—a war that has now entered its eighth month, has brought public dissatisfaction in the United States, and has disrupted the global economy.
According to the Washington Post, the proposed reinforcements would include 20,000 soldiers, more than 150 fighter jets, and several destroyers for firing and intercepting missile attacks. The aircraft carriers George Washington, George H. W. Bush, and Theodore Roosevelt are among the options mentioned in these discussions.
