The Jerusalem Post, citing New York Times investigations, reported that the U.S. Army likely used a Mark-84, one of the largest conventional bombs in the country, in the Thursday night strike on Qeshm Island.

According to officials of the Islamic Republic, in this attack a residential house was targeted, and a couple along with their two-year-old child were killed, while two other children of the family survived.

Based on its review of videos, satellite images, the blast crater, and munition remains, the New York Times has suggested that the Mark-84 bomb may have been used in this attack.

The Jerusalem Post also wrote that no military installations were identified near the site of the impact, and that officials of the Islamic Republic have not published any report on military casualties.

The newspaper, citing a U.S. official, added that the attacks that night were, in terms of the volume of operations, about twice that of the previous night.

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) also said it is reviewing reports related to civilian casualties, but it did not provide details about the target of the attack or the type of munitions, and it emphasized that the U.S. Army does not target civilians.
