🔻The head of Ecuador’s intelligence agency and his wife, along with four American citizens, were killed as a result of the crash of a tourist helicopter in central Kenya.

According to Kenya’s National Aviation Authority, the incident occurred on Wednesday morning in Samburu County, north of Nairobi, the capital. The helicopter had departed from the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy.

According to the Kenya Red Cross, difficult terrain has made rescue and recovery operations challenging.

A Kenya air accidents official, confirming that no one survived, told Agence France-Presse: “In this incident, one pilot and six passengers died.”

David Enkoroy, head of police in Samburu County, told Agence France-Presse late Wednesday: “Due to darkness and the complex nature of the area, and the geographic location of the crash site, operations have been suspended until tomorrow.”
