The dollar rate in Tehran’s free market today surpassed 256,000 tomans, and Tehran’s prosecutor ordered judicial officers to take action against “factors who disrupt the currency market.”

Based on data from gold and currency information websites, the dollar was traded at 256,500 tomans, the euro at 290,500 tomans, and the British pound at 339,000 tomans.

The dollar was 255,000 tomans this morning and 253,100 tomans yesterday, meaning it has risen by 3,400 tomans over two days.

At the same time, Tehran’s prosecutor announced a crackdown on market participants and said judicial officers have been tasked to identify disruptors through on-site review and monitoring social media, introduce them to the judiciary, and send a daily report of their actions.

The Islamic Republic of Iran’s Law Enforcement Force had arrested 11 currency market activists on Monday.
