The dollar price in Iran’s free market today has approached the 260,000-toman mark. The euro was also traded at around 290,000 tomans, after an increase of about 4,000 tomans compared to yesterday. The fall in the value of the rial against foreign currencies continues, as the Central Bank announced yesterday the supply of two billion dollars in banknotes to the market.
According to the Central Bank, the sale of foreign currency has started and in the first phase, one billion dollars will be offered through certain branches of banks and banking exchange offices.
In recent weeks, the value of Iran’s national currency has fallen further alongside the start of the U.S. economic pressure plan known as “economic denial” and the continuation of Iran’s naval blockade.
