The dollar exchange rate in Tehran’s free market today surpassed 271,000 tomans and set a new record.
Based on data from gold and currency information websites, the euro was traded at 305,000 tomans and the British pound at 359,000 tomans. The full Imami coin was priced at 273 million tomans, the half coin at 142 million tomans, and the quarter coin at 77 million tomans.
Yesterday, the dollar was 268,000 tomans, meaning it rose by 3,000 tomans in one day. The exchange rate on last Wednesday was 255,000 tomans and it has become 16,000 tomans more expensive over four days.
A year ago, on October 6, the dollar was 114,000 tomans. The price of the U.S. currency has increased by nearly 138 percent over the past year.
