The CEO of German company TKMS, a warship maker, said the company has faced increased demand from the Middle East region after the Gulf War. Oliver Burkhard, on Wednesday and after presenting the company’s financial results for the first nine months to reporters, said that mine countermeasures technology is one of the areas in which this increased demand is being seen.

He said: “We didn’t have anything like this before. Probably we’ll all agree that the security narrative in this region has changed somewhat.”

Sea mines have become one of the main focuses of the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz. Last week, the Joint Maritime Information Center warned that the danger of floating or unregistered mines in the plan to separate traffic in the strait and its proximity still exists, and that mine-danger areas remain in effect.
