The British newspaper The Telegraph reported that Donald Trump, the President of the United States, and Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, discussed the possibility of imposing a land blockade on the Islamic Republic during their recent meeting at the White House.

According to this report, Trump and Netanyahu discussed putting pressure on the Islamic Republic “through military and non-military tools” amid the stalemate created after months of fighting.

As written by The Telegraph, a senior Israeli official said: “What would happen if you just block the land routes? Assume that the Islamic Republic cannot bring in anything and cannot take anything out. Then anything could happen.”

The newspaper adds that such an action could target a number of key entry and exit crossings to Iran, although given the country’s size and the number of its neighbors, the complete and effective implementation of such a blockade would in practice be largely impossible.
