🔸Tether, the largest company in the digital asset industry, announced that, in line with coordination with the U.S. Treasury Department, in 2026 it helped to block approximately $550 million in assets related to Iran’s central bank and sanctioned Iranian networks.
🔸The company officially stated this in a statement released on Monday, the sixth of Mehr.
🔸Tether added that in April this year, in cooperation with the U.S. government and based on information provided by the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the U.S. Treasury Department and law enforcement agencies in that country, it helped to block more than $344 million related to sanctioned Iranian entities at two digital addresses.
🔸According to this report, one day later, the U.S. Treasury Department officially added those same two addresses to its sanctions list as digital currency identifiers belonging to Iran’s central bank; a bank whose linkage to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Quds Force and Hezbollah is mentioned in the sanctions list.
