🔸In the wake of increased missile and drone attacks by Yemen’s Houthis on Saudi Arabia, the Syrian government is considering the possibility of sending forces to help this country.
🔸Reuters, on Thursday, 16 Mehr, citing a U.S. official and a Syrian defense official, wrote that Damascus is reviewing the provision of defensive assistance to protect Saudi Arabia or participation in offensive operations against the Houthis.
🔸The report was published after Saudi Arabia said that three people were killed in the attacks on Tuesday and Wednesday at the airports of Riyadh and Abha.
🔸The Houthis in Yemen, which the Islamic Republic of Iran supports, also claimed on Thursday that they targeted King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh with a ballistic missile.
🔸In response to the report, a Syrian diplomat said that Damascus stands alongside Saudi Arabia in the face of Houthi attacks, but the Syrian government’s main priority is internal matters and the country’s reconstruction after the civil war.
🔸He emphasized that any possible military cooperation with Saudi Arabia would only be carried out through official channels and within the framework of bilateral agreements.
