Syria’s ambassador to the UN condemned Israel’s continuing attacks on this country’s territory and called for their immediate cessation and for Israel’s complete withdrawal from Syrian territories under occupation.

According to Syrian state television, Ibrahim Al-Awliabi, in a speech to the Sixth Committee of the UN General Assembly, the main body for reviewing legal issues, said Israel’s actions “undermine the government’s efforts to restore security, stability and to fight terrorism” and “create a fragile environment for terrorism.”

He called for full adherence to the 1974 ceasefire agreement on the basis of which Syria and Israel committed to a ceasefire, and also for the implementation of relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

In recent days, Israeli forces have entered southern Syria several times.
