Swiss military justice has launched 24 investigations since 2022 into citizens suspected of fighting in Ukraine, which is illegal under Swiss law, with 10 cases closed and 14 still ongoing.

Parliament rejected an Ukraine exception in February 2025, and the first Swiss mercenary death in Ukraine was confirmed that year.
