🔺Stop of 24 sanctioned oil tankers in Hormuz
▪The maritime information company Windward said that more than 24 vessels had been identified at an anchorage near the Strait of Hormuz, at least 16 of which are listed by the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control in its sanctions list. Among them, a 330-meter giant oil tanker can be seen.
▪Based on this assessment, two tankers carrying Iranian crude oil are in view—one with about 1,830,000 barrels and the other with about 296,000 barrels.
▪Windward said that several vessels have flags raised that do not match their ownership history; a pattern that fits with attempts to conceal the sanctions status or the cargo’s origin.
