🔶 Spain preparing to transfer migrant children from Ceuta to its mainland

The Spanish government announced that it intends, over the coming weeks, to begin transferring unaccompanied migrant children and adolescents from Ceuta, its overseas territory in North Africa, to the country’s mainland; a move that has been put on the agenda after a sudden increase in the number of these migrants in the region.

According to Reuters, Spain’s youth minister says that so far more than 1,340 unaccompanied migrant children and adolescents have been identified in Ceuta, and the government will send additional forces to the area to speed up the transfer process.

According to the report, the purpose of this action is to reduce pressure on reception centers and improve the conditions under which these children are kept.
