⚡South Korea’s official news agency has reported the drafting and publication of a statement signed by 40 countries, in which it is emphasized that all countries are required to notify, at least 24 hours in advance, the test of “long-range missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads in the Pacific Ocean.”

The statement does not name the signatory countries, but South Korea’s official news agency said that the United States and Japan have signed it. The statement also does not accuse any country, but South Korea claims that the purpose of China’s statement is targeted.

Earlier, Reuters had said that China tested the launch of a ballistic missile toward the Pacific Ocean last month. This was the first known test of this type since September 2024.

In the joint statement, 40 countries said that recent missile tests in the Pacific Ocean have ignored international standards intended to provide prior notification about launches and to prevent accidental clashes related to intercontinental ballistic missiles.
