The war between the United States and Israel with Iran has highlighted some less-seen realities in Iran’s relations with Tajikistan. During this period, signs of sympathy for Iran among part of Tajik society—especially among activists in the fields of literature, arts, culture, and media—were notable.

At the official level as well, Tajikistan responded to developments. The country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed concern in separate statements about the attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran, and called for an end to hostilities and for disputes to be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy.

Imomali Rahmon, President of Tajikistan, after the death of Ali Khamenei, sent a message of condolences to officials and people of Iran following the U.S. and Israeli attack on February 28.
