Senegalese writer Cheikh Hamidou Kane died at the age of 98 in Dakar, President of Senegal Bassirou Diomaye Faye said on X.

The writer gained worldwide fame with his debut novel Ambiguous Adventure, published in 1961. It immediately became a classic piece of African literature.
