Security has been stepped up in New Delhi amid protests by the youth movement Cockroach Janta Party (“Cockroach People’s Party”).

Law enforcement officers have already detained several hundred protesters, including CJP leader Abhijit Dipke.

The activists are demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, whom they accuse of irregularities in the latest parliamentary elections in 2024.
